The Jadite or Jadeite name appeared commercially for dishes in the 1930's. The popularity of Jadite is was attributed to it being durable, stylish and inexpensive.
The cost of producing Jadite was so low that many companies gave away Jadite dishes in cleaning products similar to the Duz laundry detergent dinnerware.
Jadite dinnerware is relatively easy to find it which makes it a most sought-after collectible.
Many people love the look and style of a dinner table laid out with Jadite dinnerware. Replacement of the most popular, common plates are not hard to find.
Often times the best prices to be found are for a 'lot' of Jadite at an estate sale. A collector might also find a few surprises at local Salvation Army, Goodwill or other Thrift stores.
Two other companies that produced Jadite/jadeite dinnerware were the Jeanette Glass Company and Mckee. Both companies used different manufacturing processes for their product which would eventually would be known as Jadite or Jadeite dinnerware.
Other names like Opalescent Jadeite that were first produced by Mckee by adding uranium or dioxide to the glass along with other chemicals to produce the desired effect.
