About Jadite

Jadite (aka Jadeite or Jade-ite) is the vintage milky-green glassware that you may have seen in your grandma's kitchen.  The milky-green opaque glass kitchenware was first made by McKee Glass Company in the 1930's but the name 'Jadite' was first used by the Jeannette Glass company in the 1940's  and referred to the color of glass, not a manufacturer or product line.  Many people prefer to collect the Fire-King line of glass made by the Anchor-Hocking Corporation in Ohio.  One version of Jadite, known as 'restaurant ware'  was heavier and thicker to withstand heavier use  in cafeterias, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, mess halls, schools.  It was not considered to be fancy as it was mass-produced cheaply, had imperfections, rough edges, straw marks and often given away as promotional items in drug stores and department stores.

A line of Jadite was also manufactured in 4 patters as homeware.  One of the patterns is called 'Charm'.
